Handmade hand stitched bridles are safer than off the peg bridles.  The large majority of off the peg bridles, even top brand names, are stitched on a machine. When machine stitching gets worn or breaks, there is a high possibility that whole line of stitching will come undone .  However, with  handstitching the threads are crossed over inside the leather, essentially ‘locking’ them, meaning if one stitch breaks the rest will remain in place.

Whilst I source only from the top industry supplier, with every handmade bridle all the buckles and fittings are closely inspected before use to ensure even ones with minor faults are discarded. The same goes with the leather which as a natural product can sometimes contain marks or imperfections. By hand cutting all my straps of leather I can make sure I avoid, and not use, any of these relatively minor imperfections or marks. Hand cutting also ensures the only correct parts of the hide are used for specific parts of the bridle; the reins, cheekpieces and headpiece are always cut from the strongest part of the hide to ensure maximum strength.

Materials
All of bridles are made using traditional English bridle leather sourced from The English Leather Company which I believe to currently be of a superior quality to the often quoted Sedgwick leather, which I have used in the past.
All of the buckles I use in my bridles are supplied by Abbey England who produce top quality buckles and fittings in their UK foundry.
The padding on the headpiece and nosebands is covered with a super soft thin leather which is available in any colour.  I use a special foam that holds its shape well and doesn’t flatten or harden with use over time.
